Father and son take on the Three Peaks Challenge

A father and son duo recently took on the monumental Three Peaks Challenge, scaling new heights to raise funds for Hope for Tomorrow.

The challengers are the husband and son (Mark and Archie) of Julie McNally, senior sister at Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. Julie, who is based at Cheltenham General Hospital, is responsible for the operations of our Gloucestershire based mobile cancer care unit, Helen, including organising the wonderful teams who provide treatment to patients on board.

Very sadly, Julie lost her father last year, inspiring her family members to take on this formidable challenge in his memory.

Every pound raised can help make a difference in the life of a patient who relies on mobile cancer care, while reducing the strain on hospital staff and resources, and helping us build a more accessible future for cancer care.

Congratulations on this wonderful achievement, Mark and Archie. It is an extraordinary way to honour a loved one and make an impact on a cause close to home. Thank you for your support.

Could it be your turn to make a difference? Our fundraising team are on hand to give you any support or advice to maximise your fundraising efforts for Hope for Tomorrow. Contact the team at fundraising@hopefortomorrow.org.uk to see how we can help.

The Three Peaks Challenge is no small feat. It involves climbing three mountains with a total ascent of 3,064 meters (10,052 feet) and covering a total walking distance of 37 kilometres (23 miles), all within 24 hours.

Mark and Archie embarked on their journey to conquer the highest peaks in Scotland, England, and Wales – Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike, and Snowdon. They completed the challenge on Wednesday 12 June 2024, in an impressive time of 22 hours and 18 minutes, demonstrating their physical endurance and dedication.

Their efforts will directly contribute to our work in bringing mobile cancer care closer to patients across the country. Hope for Tomorrow is a charity that works in partnership with NHS trusts throughout the country. We provide a space for mobile cancer care and cancer services in local communities, saving patients time, stress, and miles on the road. As we are a charity that receives no government funding, the money raised by Mark, Archie and all those who have generously given to sponsor their incredible challenge, will help us as we continue to bring cancer care closer to those who need it.
