All on Board: One donation, twice the impact

Double Your Impact with Hope for Tomorrow’s Big Give Christmas Challenge

As a UK-based charity providing mobile cancer care units with no government funding, Hope for Tomorrow relies entirely on public support to keep our vital services running.

The Big Give Christmas Challenge offers our supporters a unique opportunity to donate and double their impact.

What is the Big Give Christmas Challenge?

The Big Give is a matched funding campaign that amplifies charitable donations, thanks to matched funding from a selection of generous charity pledgers and Big Give champions. Thank you to ShareGift for being our Champion! For a limited time, every pound donated to Hope for Tomorrow could be matched, effectively doubling your contribution’s impact.

When you’re ‘All on Board’ it means:

  • Your £10 donation becomes £20
  • Your £50 donation becomes £100
  • Your £100 donation becomes £200. That’s almost enough to Pay for a Day of mobile cancer care for one of our mobile cancer care units.
  • All at no extra cost to donors
Joanne’s experience

When Joanne York was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2024, she knew she wanted to be able to have her treatment on board her local Hope for Tomorrow mobile cancer care unit. As a fundraiser and supporter of the charity for many years, and someone who had friends, family and neighbours already using the unit, she was familiar with the service offered when she needed to use it herself. She says,

It is only when you see what a difference it makes and when you experience the mobile unit for yourself that you see just how brilliant it really is.

“It means I can be in and out and back home in bed for a rest in no time at all.

“I was so keen to move on to the unit, firstly, because it’s on my doorstep, but also everything is just so quick and easy on there, and I can pick up my prescription from there too.

“When you are sick, you want everything to be as easy as possible.

“Psychologically, I found that going to the hospital somehow felt so much more serious. It’s a very clinical environment, and there are a lot of very sick people there who understandably are not in the mood for banter, so it’s a very different experience.

“Patients on the mobile unit were happy to chat and swap stories and have a chuckle. That helps to put you at ease.

“There are only four chairs, and everyone there is usually very personable. We talk about anything and everything. It seems so much better for your well-being. It puts you at ease and in a good frame of mind.

“The same nurses rotate from working on the wards. They are doing the same job, but the atmosphere on the unit is just so much more relaxed.”

Are you All on Board?

The Big Give Christmas Challenge is an important fundraising opportunity for us as a charity. We need donations from our supporters to keep our mobile cancer care units running. From the 3rd to the 10th of December 2024, donors can maximise their support through this matched funding initiative and make an even bigger difference for patients like Joanne.

You can’t put a price on what these units provide for people going through cancer,” says Joanne.

Are you All on Board? Make your donation count – twice. Thank you!
