Employee engagement opportunities

From running marathons and climbing mountains to holding cake sales and fundraising balls, employees, members and customers can all take part. Here are a few quick suggestions, but you can find more in our A to Z of fundraising ideas:

Events – from challenge events to VIP events, we do it all. Whether walking on fire, jumping out of a plane or wining and dining is your thing, we’d love you to join us

Fundraising at work – whether it’s a dress-down day donating a pound, a bake sale or wearing something rainbow in aid of Hope for Tomorrow, getting everyone involved is simple and fun. Hybrid working? No problem, you can fundraise virtually! And don’t forget to check out our A to Z of ideas.

Match funding  – many companies support their employees by offering to match funds they have raised. Funds can be matched entirely or up to a certain amount. This is a great way to engage employees and show them how much you care.

Collect clothes for cancer care – have a competition with colleagues and/or your contacts, to see who can collect the most bags of clothes. If you collect a minimum of 20 bags, we can collect from you or you can drop to them at you nearest clothes bank.

Employee volunteering  – we’re always in need of a helping hand, from collecting tubs to providing awareness talks on our behalf, we’d love to hear from you. Your teams may even have specific skills that you think could help us.

Payroll giving  – it’s so easy to set up and benefits us as well as your employees. Donations are taken before tax is deducted from salaries, making it the most tax-efficient way to give.

Host a clothing bank

According to WRAP an estimated £140million worth of clothing is sent to landfill each year.

Aside from reducing waste, clothes recycling can also generate money for charities so if you’re able to host a clothing bank we’d love to hear from you. It’s potentially one of the most effective and efficient ways of raising money as it’s all taken care of and doesn’t require any expenditure – from you, the charity and anyone wanting to donate their clothes.

As a business, do you have space for a clothing bank? With many staff working from home, you may have more room in your car park and depending on your business it could help increase footfall.

We’d really love to hear from you if you have the space to host a Hope for Tomorrow clothing bank.

Gift in kind and pro bono support

Another way that companies choose to collaborate with us and engage staff is by offering pro bono professional support.

It could be anything, from offering free legal advice to having a specialist staff member seconded to the charity to help us deliver transformational projects.

As a small charity we often have to buy in specialists to help us, so if you choose to support us in this way, we can reduce our running costs and more of our donations can go towards supporting cancer patients when they need it.

We’ve even received generous donations of gifts in kind from our partners, including IT equipment and office supplies in the past. It all helps!

Auction prizes

We are also lucky to benefit from fundraising events organised by our supporters, such as charity balls, golf days and motor racing dinners.

These events usually involve a charity auction and we are always looking for donations of ‘money can’t buy’ auction items to maximise our fundraising.

If you’d like to offer prizes call our fundraising team on 01666 505055 or email fundraising@hopefortomorrow.org.uk

It feels more friendly on the unit

When I initially visited the unit, I was having chemo infusions which took around 20 minutes, which still took less time than the journey to the hospital.
