We are thrilled to announce our latest partnership with Airedale NHS Foundation Trust, to provide parts of Yorkshire and East Lancashire with a Mobile Cancer Care Unit (MCCU).
The new state of the art MCCU, was delivered to Airedale on Thursday 9th August and the mobile service will be officially launched this autumn.
The size of the MCCU is 6 car parking widths wide, designed to enable flexibility for treatment locations in the local communities and allowing the MCCU to deliver cancer care up to 5 different venues a week. The treatment locations are determined by the NHS Trust, depending on where the patient need is greatest, hence their need to be so flexible.
As with all partnerships, we own and maintain the MCCU, in which a Nurses Support Vehicle (NSV) will also be provided to allow the nursing team to travel to and from the daily locations. The locations will be decided based on patient numbers and accessibility. On the days that the MCCU is not in the community, it will be based on the hospital site, where it will be used by the Medical Day Unit.

This will be an additional operational MCCU within our existing fleet, helping to bring cancer care closer to patients across their patient area. We already have a great working relationship with the trust and look forward to developing this further to make the MCCU a success”.
